Rosalie Bertell founded the International Institute of Concern for Public Health (IICPH), in Toronto and remained its chairwomen until 1996. She did extensive research on how the environmental circumstances where contributing to the increase of leukaemia within the population.

Rosalie Bertell: “When we talk about a long-term, low-level-radiation, we must be aware that this creates genetic mutation, which will influence our inheritance. These particles radiate and influence our DNA, which carries all our genetic information, as well as our RNA, whose molecules act like a messenger and keeps our body functions going. We have to ask ourselves: How much radiation is necessary to destroy our DNA and RNA? We know that as little as 6 to 10 electron volt of this energy are enough to break a molecule of that size. If you take depleted Uranium for example (which is not even very radioactive): One single atom, when exposed to alpha rays, release an energy of 4 million electron volt. You cannot discharge such a radiation on living tissue without damaging it. All sorts of things can happen: The radiation could break the DNA and RNA molecular chains and destroy their cell walls. Genetic mutations can lead to the extinction of a line, whether it is only a cell line or an entire genus. The extent of the destruction defines whether this happens after two, seven or ten generations. So basically, by not intervening with these alternations of our genetic material, we are reducing the amount of future generations on this planet. And there are no sources for new DNA. We have, what we have! And who ever will live on this planet in the future, is already in our DNA today.

There are a few substances that can help to remove inorganic material from living organisms. A very simple and mild substance is distilled water. We can use it too cook our vegetables. If these contain particles of uranium, the distilled water will remove them. But it is also possible to drink distilled water. It has the same effect on our body as it has on the vegetables: It will help to wash out the unwanted, inorganic chemicals."

The aim of IICPH  is to stop the refurbishment experiment at the Point Lepreau nuclear power station. Concerned groups, individuals and First Nations across North America are urging the New Brunswick government to end the nuclear power age.

Decommissioning Point Lepreau will create safer, more resilient and sustainable communities and many new jobs in energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy. The refurbishing experiment is a waste of taxpayer dollars and would only generate 30 more years of harmful emissions and radioactive waste.

The IICPH is concerned with conserving and maybe even improving the quality of the drinking water .

Fluoridation is done to increase our fluoride intake five to twenty times more than normal. The more water we drink, the more fluoride we get. It accumulates. Fluoride is most toxic to the developing baby and child. Current science (National Research Council) has identified several health problems caused from drinking fluoridated water Fluoridation mocks the intent of public health policy, which is to improve all parameters of health, for all ages and races. The harm is not justified. Therefore it is time to vote it out.
