Information
"Every modern society has seen the images of emaciated infants with large empty eyes. The majority of them will die, although this could be avoided with inexpensive treatments", says Anwar Fazal, Malaysian consumer activist. “A large number would not die or get sick if they would be breastfed. They are victims of propaganda. These deathly consequences have to be seen as murder.”
It needs a strong consumer movement, to effectively work against these schemes. And that is why Anwar Fasal has been an activist for many years. “The consumption movement has five main concerns: First, we want people to see society’s needs from a holistic perspective, which includes men, women and children. Second, it is about power – the power of ordinary people to unite and form a counterforce in order to represent their concerns. Third, consumer activism is also a human rights movement. Forth, we care about the environment. Instead of relentless consumption, we stand up for a gentle consumption. Fifth, it is about justice. The goal is to organize political, judicial and economical systems in a way that it creates a just and reasonable basis for communal living.”
